The Watering Hole

The Roadking will go on Ebay later today. Once sold, I'll be getting a Torres Texas Boogie head and a 2x12 cab, all as a kit then build them myself.

Having talked to Torres, I should be able to mod the head so that the effects loop will be footswitch activated, as will the channel 2 gain boost. I also asked them if I can put a switch on the back to cut 2 of the power tubes for half power and that is no problem according to them.

I'm also going to opt for a built-in power soak. I know that this will effect the tone a little but I decided to go for it anyway.

If anyone in the UK is interested in the Roadking, shout up now. I'm going to reserve the right to end the auction early anyway as some of my local musical buddies are putting the word about as well.

Now I've made my mind up, I can't wait to start on this :)
I'd bid a dollar for it! :D

Except I don't have a dollar... :(

Oh well.  Good luck!  ;)
So how did the Torres sound?
Very much like a cross between a Fender Twin on the clean channel and a Cornford MK50 on the drive channel.

Warm clean to die for that just starts to break up at higher levels on the clean channel then switching to smooth crunch with a shit-load of bottom end that stay's very defined, or liquid sustain with SO much body, it would make a dyke cream herself at 50 paces :o.

If I can work out the details, this will be mine for many years to come. 40 watts is just about right for a british pub gig that's getting loud. With the attenuator built in and the option to go to 20 watts with the turn/flick of a switch.....Heaven :) 8-).

A futher discusion will be taking place tomorrow morning with the guy's at Torres just to make sure all that I want to achieve is possible for a first timer.
Good luck with that, and let us have a nice detailed review when you get'er done
