I did post about this rig months ago. I believe Charger has one of these amps as well, as he posted some tasty chops from it in that thread.

I have had time to tweak since then.

My band opened up for .38 Special (yes...again) about 4 weeks ago in Ft Smith, AR. When my turn came in the soundcheck, .38 Special's guitar tech came over to see what in the world I was playing through. When he saw it, he just kind of said to himself...'are you kidding me?'

I asked him if it sounded bad (from what I said above). I was a tad bit concerned. He then told me it sounded great. He was just taken aback by what was producing that sound.

True story.

Yep... mine's in a pine cabinet I got off ebay, finished with shellac and clear poly. I stuck a Weber Silver Bell 12" with a hemp cone in there.  Flat-out winner.
Don't laugh, but my "little brother" of that amp, the Vibro Champ XD sounds good as well.  I have a weekly gig I do and use that.  I use the Champ sim for most songs but there are three we do that I use a more liquid singing tone and I reach over between songs and switch to model 3.  Use no pedals, just the "verb/delay" preset and guitar volume knob.  Lower volumes of course, but it sounds really good.   I bought it from Willcutt for $138 dollars!  A steal!!!
I'm not surprised.  The only reason I went with the Super Champ was the 10" speaker sounded better than the 8".  But I'd bet the Vibro Champ sounds virtually identical to the Super Champ through a 12" speaker. I think it's what, 15 watts vs 5?  We have a 5w amp in the studio that we never turn above 9 o'clock, and play in full on jams with drums, other guitars, and bass...
