Finally got a break from working for 5 minutes and recorded a test of my new amp.  Very low gain but with the volume pumped.

Are we playing the guessing game? ;D

I vote low watt Marshall.  Class 5 or maybe the Haze.

In honor of the recently deceased and of course your BFF JP.

Yeah, I'll go with a guessing game, who's next  :)
BTW, Jon.  I think it sounds good.

How about a test without the wife beating on the pots and pans in the background.   ;D

No drums.  Just the amp.  While you're stuck inside from the hailstorm.
Sounds good to my ears !

I don't know if it's what I suppose it is.. :)

Based on our PM conversation a couple of weeks ago, no it isn't !
:)

Hard to say... This sound is quite similar to my AC15 (when cranked) or the Night Train in "thick" mode.

I like it !
Sounds like a Supro with less brightness!  I'm guessing it's a Vox AC4.

Crate?   :D
I will reveal all with pictures at the weekend !  Onsite with customer all this week so no time to play :(
Sounds good, have no idea what it is however!

Have you hung onto the Jet City?

Have you hung onto the Jet City?

Absolutely.  The Jet City is not going anywhere.  I love that amp, does nearly everything that I want or need.  Amazingly good for the price too !
Yeah, I have tried twice to check out the new version JCA22 which is supposed to be even better.  Both times I went to play on, GC was out.
Dunno what it is Jon but this one sounds better than your JCA. Richer and deeper (tone being close).
Onsite work actually finished early, so I have a free day today.

Firstly, apologies for being somewhat misleading.  The new 'amp' is
actually not an amp at all, and sorry also that I mislead you in that I said
it was a tube amp.

I wanted to see what happens when you tell people that the sound
they are listening to is an amp when it is in fact not.

Having said that, I find this a very satisfying sound that is both tonally
rich and pleasing to play in terms of touch responsiveness.

The signal chain is:

Les Paul (split coil mode) into
Marshall compression pedal (Ed the compressor) into
right side (distortion) of germanium4 pedal with very low distortion into
MXR 10 band EQ with some crazy eq into
Reaper into
Guitar Hacks mesaboogie IR Cab.

Discuss and call me names  :)

That is definitely a crazy 10-band setting!!!
Germanium FTW!

Second that!
Is that a HP pedalboard? LOL
DM — Apr 26, 2012Is that a HP pedalboard? LOL

:-)  actually, no, it's a canon  :)

Not really crazy at all actually.  No need to be constrained by preconceptions of what an eq setting should be, just depends on the source and in this case it called for some drastic EQ....get away from using the eyes and just go with the ears.
Jon, you may not have the unit anymore but you still made the list:

Well I'll be damned.....

Heh heh  I still check that zone out and I thought you might get a kick out of that!

I'll take a stab at it.

Sounds to me like a Les Paul (split coil mode) into a Marshall compression pedal (Ed the compressor) into the right side (distortion) of germanium4 pedal with very low distortion into MXR 10 band EQ with some crazy eq into Reaper using Guitar Hacks mesaboogie IR Cab.

I only listened once so this is just a quick guess.

Am I correct?  ;D

Jon
You must concede, you're an experimental guitar tone scientist.
I think your hobby involves more experimenting than actually playing...not a bad thing, just the way you go about the hobby.

Err, no actually you are quite wrong Lance. I play "live" quite often and I record quite a lot but I am always interested in different ways of making nice big fat juicy sounds !

ps. you were correct in your guess on how the sound was created.....uncanny, how on earth did you guess that  ;D
I think he must have a profile of it :)

Oh, no secrets IMHO. It's the new feature of the firmware just released called UNprofile:  give an mp3 file to the Kemper and it will tell you everything about it.  :)
