I've had a tanglewood long scale bass for a few years now. Whilst a good instrument I've always had difficulty playing a long scale instrument. So, today I bought a squire short scale Jaguar bass (3rd along in the picture). What a difference, so easy to play and also has a very fast neck. I was always worried that a short scale wouldn't sound as good as a long scale, but I was pleasantly surprised with this, I can't really notice any difference at all to be honest. This makes bass playing just so much easier and "fun" rather than hard work on the long scale.
