I've always had a boner for ESP guitars, but have never owned one. Yesterday, I find this at a local pawn shop. The Floyd Rose was angled forward a good 45 degrees, and the action was about a quarter inch off the fretboard. I'm going to guess the previous owner was probably 14 years old. And seeing how it was set up, I could see why he prolly hated it and pawned it off.
Heh.
I nabbed it for $199 and took it to my lair.....
Spent about 3 hours changing the strings and setting it up tonight. Got the springs adjusted, Floyd leveled out, and lowered the trem to my taste. Let it set for 2 hours, came back, and re-tuned it. Played it for about 30 minutes, and it stayed in perfect tune.
Although it is an LTD, this thing weighs a lot and I can tell it is pretty well built. Now that it is set up, the neck plays very nice. The pups are decent at best, so I will be replacing them very soon-like. The Trem is killer. First locking system I have had in about 4 years. A couple of high harmonic pull-ups on it seemed to have either confused or scared my cat. Haven't seen her since.
Anyhoo. It is still second fiddle to my Charvel, but it's a lot of fun.
