The Watering Hole

Alright, took a trip to my local GC today and checked out many monitors they had hooked up to a mixer.

The verdict?

M-Audio, Studiophile BX5a  Deluxe monitors.
Only $254 for the pair at GC!  :)

Sure, the 8's had a lot more bass but for recording and size, these fit better and still rock like hell.

Any of you guys try these out yet?

No shit, these M-Audio's sounded better than Mackie or KRK...without a doubt.

Tomorrow, GC is starting their Labor Day sale.
I'll have to get a little rebate if there's a difference.

Randy, I have the 8's and yes, they have bass!  Put them close to the walls and it's almost TOO much bass.  I have it turned down on the back to keep the as flat as possible.  But yeah, I really like them.  Wish I had a pair of the 5's    $250 a pair... that's a deal!
Better than a pair of Behringers in mint condition, eh?  :D

Read the little manual on them last night.
The damn woofers are made of Kevlar...geez!  :D

Very happy with these.
Howie, I wanted the 8's bad...but they were $200 more and I just couldn't swing it.
But don't get me wrong...these rock.

Glad to hear you've got a pair too.
I don't feel like the Lone Ranger and they're ALMOST as good as used Behringers.  ;)

i have a pair of event tr5's, love them,  zero bass but great sound. if i ever start mixing rap albums ill just get a subwoofer :)
Hey ASSMAN, my thinking exactly.
Most companies offer subs that you can hookup with these speakers.
M-Audio has a sub out just for that reason and they build a sub woofer to go with them.
Heck, put that sucker on the floor and out of the way.  :D

OK...update.

I got my new Musician's Friend in the mail yesterday.
They have the M-Audio 8's for $399.
They're $499 at the store.
Guess what?
I ordered them and got the ok by phone from GC to bring the 5's back next week for a full refund.  ;D

Hell yeah!!

Randy
Got the 8's in today.....WOW!

Man, these things sound great!
I'm glad I upgraded!  :)
