The Watering Hole

celestion creambacks... wow, assuming break-in does with I think it will (reduce the nasal-y thing a little)... like these a lot!

they have a much nicer bass roll-off than any of my other current speakers (T75, G12H30, V30)... which is good because that's why I wanted them ;)

obligatory clip: strat (singles) -> uber gain channel -> creamback 2x12 -> sm57 on left, e609 on right (these need tweaking too... they're in what is close to the usual cap edge spot, didn't spend much time on this either)

H/S/S strat should sound better on the gain channel... will have to wait though, JB replacement is in the mail. (dimarzio 36th anniversary paf -- I'm curious... if it doesn't work out, probably going to try an AT)

Wow!  That sounds great.  Not sure you need to spend any more time with mike placement :)
maybe just a little... after break-in. there's a bit of fuzzy stuff in the highs that I hope goes away. if not, I'll have to sleuth it out. could be the amp, actually.

these are easily the best sounding speakers in my limited stockpile, though. not much to complain about!
Also, your strat clips are making me regret parting with mine...  What single coils do you have in there?
texas specials - original equipment, I think it's a '96 strat, so they'd be that year - dunno if they're different these days. they do sound decent but sure are noisy bastards!
You're right... those are great-sounding speakers.  Like everything I like about greenbacks, and nothing I hate.  Sick!
still liking these speakers a lot. I can use bass knobs now! lol, I think I might actually need to ADD some lower mids when dialing the amp... unheard of!

anyways, put in the dimarzio 36th anniversary PAF in my other strat today, replacing a JB. the plan here was to get 1) a sound more in-line with the cruiser in the neck (that I like) and 2) to get it to be a bit less drastically different in output level compared to the other strat and make my life easier when it comes to setting up pedals and stuff. on those counts, it's a success. but... it might be a little too bright for me. not so bright that I couldn't eq a little after the mics, though.

quick noodles...
