The Watering Hole

In my meanderings looking for a decent amp, I stumbled across a used Vox AD100VT at GC. They offered me a $130 swap for it and my shitty Valvestate...so I jumped on it.
You guys know I've been a Vox user several times, and have been pretty happy every time. So this shouldn't be a surprise ;)

There are a couple of different thingies about this amp AND my setup this go-around vs how I used the previous Vox amps before. And those thingies are good.

The older Vox Valvetronix amps I used had a gazillion programmable presets. And I used most of them. But that is all I used....everything onboard. And I had some pretty decent tones.

This amp is not the same. 100 watt 2x12 combo with variable power output knob (that's still there). Where it differs is the amp models. There are fewer, but they sound MUCH better. And all of the models take pedals VERY well.

And this is where my usage of it differs from my older ones....In just 2 hours of tooling around with different amps and settings, I have tweaked out a stupid good tone using the '80's' amp model with just a tad of saturation along with the 'Mastervolume' Marshall amp model (set pretty clean) and TS808 pedal from my RP500. I solely used the 808 pedal's gain on the RP500 to create 3 different rythm channels. Then added a tad of compression and delay to create a killer lead channel.
The end result is three levels of good sounding CHUNK, along with a singing 808 driven lead.

And that was done within my first two hours with this amp. Much more to come :)

Congrats. New gear purchases are always extra nice when you also unload something "shitty" that you'll never use anyway.  :)

Johnny the Vox man is back!  Congrats on the score.  Hope it works out great for you.
