VOX !! (Again..)


You know, I've sold my amps and replaced them with the POD HD but I miss the noise coming from a speaker. So this afternoon
I went to my "pusher" to try some amp. Well I was searching something cheap (maybe used) just to make some noise at home..
fuck the neighbours !
I've tried an old Carvin (2x12)..not bad at all. The clean channel was good, but the lead...mmm..not for me..a bit harsh
with very low dynamics to my ears.

Tried the new Fender Mustang both the 100Watt 1x12 and the 150 watt 2x12. Again, not bad but flat...and noisy.

Then a small AC15C1 was sitting next to me, so why not give it a try ?? Same guitar, same cable and BANG !
A full and rich sound....or probably just the sound I like more !! Great, I want it !

So my friend gave me a new boxed and sealed VOX AC15C1.

When I was at home I opened the box and...hey, what is it ?? What's all this red inside the box ??
Once unboxed I discovered a red version of the AC15 with a certificate that says this is one of the 1000 custom Red AC15 !!
It's not different from the standard version, just the vynil is different..anyway it sounds great to me !!
The POD HD is still at home because for practice and recording is fantastic..but I feel better with a
real amp in the room..also turned off!!

Yes, whenever the factory screws up and accidentally does something like using red tolex, marketing saves the day by declaring it a "limited, custom edition!"  ;)

I've also kept a vintage AC 30 on my "to get someday" list.  Enjoy the new toy!  :)

Hey Marco, I'm so glad that I didn't sell my Peavey C30.  I really do like the HD500, but I also really do miss a real guitar cab pushing real air, you just can't beat it.

I'm playing around with getting a good HD500 sound from the C30 at the moment via the return input on the Peavey, and I'll post some clips in a couple of days (mic'ed of course)

No send/return on the AC15 so I've tryed the HD in front of it as a "standard" pedalboard (OD, ModFx, delay, etc..)  but I was not able to get a good OD sound..tryed different options, different eq, but nothing good to my ears. I've to study the combo HD/AMP a little more.. :)

Anyway I've compared the VOX AC15 patch I've created on the HD (before I get the amp) with the real one recorded using the SM57.
It's incredible! The two tracks are almost identical..maybe the HD track sounds a bit better !!! ...probably due the fact that on the HD the speakers are the Alnico Blue and the mic is an expensive ribbon mic !  ;D  ;D
