The Watering Hole

Ok, so this is much more representative I think, Bogner uber pedal into the clean channel of my Krankenstein.  tone knobs on the Krank at 12 o'clock.  Tone knobs on Uber pedal at just shy of 2 o'clock on bass and mid, treble at about 1 oclock.  gain all the way up.

Sheep if you (or anybody) wants me to try different settings let me know.  It can scoop out the mids very nicely, just recorded a random setting here as I was turning knobs, and thought the mids sounded pretty nice this way (non scooped)

Nice.....
sounds good to me! guess I'm heading to GC tomorrow... sigh. :)
That sounds great!  Sheep, if I were you, I'd read the comments I'm about to post in my Red thread before you go...   ;)
Paul,

Another listen.  I love the mids there.  Wouldn't mind hearing a little reduction, just for comparison but also a little boost.  I want to see if it gets that snarl I've heard in several Uber (amp) clips, or if that is someone using an EQ with that amp.

haha, Krank as a clean amp/pedal platform... who woulda thunk it?   :)
If it's request hour, how about 9, 12 and 3 o'clock on the gain knob.  Just one clip, but do a few riffs like you did here then turn up to he next notch.  Obviously, trying to get a feel for the range of the gain.  I've heard it can get cleaner than the Red...
Ok had all in 1 clip but split into 2 due to upload limit.  Gets boring pretty fast.

Starts with same settings as the old clip, slightly different cab impulses.  Then mids up to 3 o'clock, then down to 12 oclock.  That's the first clip.

Second clip: pulled the gain back to 3, 12, and 9.  Then hit the boost, gain on 9, 12 and 3.

Howie - see if this has the snarl...

Just for completeness, here is the second half of the clip with the EL34 based impulses....

All good.  I was expecting less gain when you rolled it way back, from what I had heard.

The "snarl" clip didn't have any lead type stuff in it, so not sure but I'm betting now it's an upper mids boost used with the Uber amp for solos.  It was a nice cutting lead tone.  One example would be Avenged Sevenfold whom I heard their lead guitar player used an Uber.
Ok, I was just musing that maybe the snarl was partly the EL34s.  Granted there is a magic that happens between preamp and power amp stage that my current recording method obviously lacks.  I have heard Ubers sound wildly different, for example Mercenary gets a really interesting sound out of them, I have no idea how they get the tone they do.  Speakers/mikes/EQ...  Real Bogner amps!!!
uber with boost sounds pretty great.
Thanks all!

Sheep - really love the boost for hitting the amp harder - "self tightening".  Also lets you turn the gain back a bit and still sound big.  Really excellent trick...
yo.  That shit is gnarly.

Sounds great to me, killer balanced, mean crunch, nice clarity on the chords.  :)
Just listened to these and the others you did, with much better speakers.  This thing sounds even better than I thought!   Going to Guitar Center this afternoon!     ;)
Thanks guys.  I think it's a great pedal for what I want to do.  Just needs to be matched up with the right amp and tweaked a bit.  I have a new pickup for my 7 string (Crunchlab 7, yes i am a petrucci fanboi) and am working on dialing it in for that.  Less treble than the JB but much better balance top to bottom and none of that nasal mid stuff.  More harmonics as well.  Hopefully will post some more stuff soon.
Uber in the house!  MINE, that is.   :)
