I saw the pics of his Music Man JP-7 and remembered how much I miss my JP6. So I have this little baby on the way (used of course).
Flash on pictures wash out the green part of the flip flop finish (this was a limited edition Dargie's Delight finish) and makes it look more gold.
awwwwwwyeeeeeeeah ;D that is one sexy guitar. i love music-man guitars. i think the luke is probably my favorite guitar ever. grats on the new axe!
The best feeling stock guitar I've ever owned was a Music Man Axis (August and I were almost twins except for the color). That one sure looks good as is, knowing it's a two-tone I bet it looks killer in person! :)
I'll know tomorrow Craig. Google some pictures of Dargie's Delight in any model of Music Man. Stunning. Comes with an Ebony board too. The only finish of theirs I like as much is Mystic Dream (the original Petrucci signature color). Awesome.
Yeah Juan, when I saw the pic of this I was sold. I'm interested how the Silo neck compares to the JP6 (I loved my JP6). I think the finish of the MusicMan necks is second to none. It just needs to get here...
NICE! Bring it to the store next time I'm down there. You can demo the Mini Rec for me.
You can grab a guitar too and we can do some silent jamming. ;D
Nah, I want to here you play first!
I don't know. After that, ya might prefer silent jamming. LOL ;)
HSH and 24 frets, nice....... Good luck with it.
watched a few videos of guitars with dargie delight. looks sooooo good
Got the guitar this afternoon. Man, no photos or videos do the finish justice. It looks even cooler than the Petrucci color Mystic Dream in person. Hubba, Hubba.
Guitar plays really well. Neck feels like a cross between a strat neck and a Wolfgang neck (without the asymmetrical feel or thickness of the Wofie). Love the feel of the Ebony board. Haven't owned an ebony board, but I dig it...a lot. Neck plays nice and fast. Love the feel.
Pickups are definitely brighter than want I'm used to (Howie, put these with 3 metal zones...woof). Comes loaded with Dimarzio Virtual PAF's in the humbuckers and a custom single coil in the middle. Clean it has a nice spanky sound. Distortion is a touch bright for my tastes. Gonna keep pups for awhile, but may be swapping them out once I've figured out what I want.
The color is part of a limited edition package called Dargie's Delight. In addition to the paint job, it comes with the Ebony board (normally Silhouettes are Maple boards).
Saw the pics and REALLY like the coloring!
As for the pups being too bright, isn't that a good thing? You can always EQ out some of the brightness (but you can't add brightness easily to pups that don't produce any!).
Funny thing Craig, the pics (by the previous owner) emphasize the gold part of the finish due to the flash. But it's primary color is green. Google Dargie's Delight pics.
I like pickups that have a little bite, but not so trebley. Played some more with it today and made the tone knob my friend and tamed that part. Gotta live with it some more.
changing pickups in these cant be easy. ive looked inside my luke and jp12 and everything's wired into some pcb thing. preamp maybe? silent circuit or what have you
I know. With the single, it might very well have that silent circuit. I know with my old JP it had an issue because the 3-way switch had a PCB on it.
Not really on changing pickups in it yet at all. So far I'm find the tone knob works really well to tame the beast. I've always been someone to run with the tone knob wide open, but this is the first setup where I've felt like I've needed it.
I plugged it into a Recto today...that made me very happy. :) :) :)
