Sounds like it would work to me. I'd just hope they didn't spend too much time on the idea (so it adds too much to the price) since I'm sure there are a lot of other cheap solutions to do the same thing if you're just trying to capture lower-quality audio for ideas (I have a recordable MD player for example). :)
It's kind of along the lines of the Line6 Backtrack... a tool that I am starting to want. The cool thing about the backtrack is that it is always recording whenever you are playing through it. So you don't really have to worry about firing up your app when you get inspired. It's already there. You just tell it to "keep what I just did." I haven't seen this in action, but it seems totally brilliant to me.
