I've had this great neck (maple w/skunk stripe, original brass Schaller tuners, etc) my old singer took off his '83 Kramer and gave to me when our band seperated WAY back when. I always hated his main guitar but did tell him often that I loved the NECK on it, lol. It was pretty cool of him to give it to me actually (still good friends all these years later). Anyway, it's in pristine shape (zero fret wear) as it's been collecting dust in my closet for well over two decades, just never got around to it or found the right body to match it up with I guess. So fast forward to this other buddy of mine who very recently bought one of these cheap ($299) BC Rich things for his son, who quit after just two lessons. Oh well. I offered him a $100 for it and he jumped! It's basswood and the yellow is kinda ;) loud but the shape has that little Kramer kink to it so I though it'd be a pretty cool match. And and shit, after I slapped an old DiMarzio Fred in it, a better volume pot, a chrome Floyd, etc, (all of which I've had in the ole box of parts), bang, I've got this simple yet beastly guitar on the dirt cheap. It really is a surprise how well it turned out. Forgot about this awesome playing neck!! Nothing has changed...the action is right on par with my pricer Charvels and Ibanez, if not even better! Loving how well it plays across the entire fretboard with no trace of buzz. Another plus is I did not happen to have a basswood axe at the moment. And if the yellow doesn't grow on me I guess I could always do some sort of half-assed relic thing to it.
This is what it looked like when I bought it a few days ago...

And after the updates....
