The Watering Hole

Never used these before, but tooled around on a fairly large 1x12 open back (a verticle oval shaped opening) Cab fitted with a Scumback H75 speaker yesterday at GC. Sounded really good for the price (it was used), so I grabbed it.

Anybody use these? The one major thing I noticed was that I could turn the highs up more than I had them before (no matter the tone/amp I was using) without the tone getting 'shrilly'. Very smooth speaker. There is no name on the cab itself, but looks to be very well made. And with that oval opening on the back, it has pretty good bass response. See pic...anybody seen a cab like this?

I haven't tried a Scumback. YET.  I will!!!  Supposed to be about the best.  

From that pic, not sure what cab it might be.  Avatar has some oval hole back sub the oval is smaller and the jack located below the opening, in the middle.  (The models have varied slightly over the years, but I haven't seen an Avatar with the jack over to the side like that. I have one with a V30 in it).

p.s.  if you don't mind, what did you pay for it?  Only asking because you said it was a good deal.  The speakers aren't cheap.  

Scumback speakers are awesome!  I'VE owned that speaker.  Sounded good with everything.  Had it paired with an H55.  Speakers are actually made by Weber for the company that sells them.  Worth the money.  If you haven't bought it, do so...NOW!   :)

I grabbed the cab for $189 used. The more tones I run through it, the more I like it. Especially in the higher 'chimier' types of tones where a lot of speakers can be shrilly and take your head off when turned up. Not this one. You get the clear high end, but it stays smooth. Diggin' it.

Congrats Johnny! Those are supposed to be about the best.  I want one!
