After weeks (read months >:() of waiting, my Snake Oil Brand strings finally arrived today.

I went for the original nickels in the STMB (9.5-46) size.

Stuck a set on the Levinson and although it's too late to fire Mesa up, first impressions are good. Great acoustic tone and a good feel for me as I find 10's too stiff (yes....I'm a wimp) and 9's too loose causing me to overbend and other such issues.

Probably wont get chance to try them amplified until the end of the week as I'm working late tomorrow :(. out meeting a potential new band that want me as a second guitar player Wednesday :) and working on a motorcycle for a friend Thursday ::).

I'll report back as soon as I can on these.
yeah, I've been reading about them for months as well.  Almost pulled the trigger MONTHS ago on some, then read about guys having breakage problems.  Then a bunch more guys came in saying they didn't have breakage issues at all.

Let us know how you like them.
Thanks for the info Chris. I've not heard anything about SOB strings being prone to breakage and I'm not that hard on strings as a general rule so, if I get breakage problems, I'll pretty much know it's the strings and not me or the guitar. (The last set of strings have been on the Levinson for just under a year).

???
After Howie's post you thanked me... ;)
I bought a set of vintage and a set of rock strings about a year ago when Lance first brought them to my attention.  I haven't installed the rock ones yet but my Tele has been strung with the vintage since I receieved them.  They feel really good and sound pretty decent as well.

I doubt they would last a year if I played the Tele more often :) .

Sorry Chris. In the US, I think you call it senility. In the UK, we call it 'proof of age'  ;) :D.
;D ;D ;D

So, how are they, old man?   :)
