Are there any decent ones on the market? I know there is the randall, but I've heard (not literally) that it is still fairly noisy, leaks sound.
Anyone have a view on this as I really do want to record using mic's but I just can't do it at home with the amp as it is just too loud.
I'm thinking of trading in the classic C30 and buying an orange tiny terror head and an isolation box.
Any views?
Hi Jon!
I'm not a big fan of isolation boxes.. I've heard fews and...mmmh..nothing special to my ears. Maybe it's just me...
I think you could like the little Blackstar Head (5 watts). It's sold as head only or as full stack with two 1x10 cabs !
It has a (good) emultated output, two channels and a knob to blend British/US sounds ! I've played it and I think it could do the job also at very low volume!

just heard about them today myself - no idea if they are any good - reports vary
Rocket has found the Bert Cave. Ask him. I'm pretty sure he's built one of these puppies. But I think he built his himself.
Why don't you borrow mine and see how you get on with it Jon?
Thanks for the offer Andy but I've gone off the idea again.... I think this was a spur of the moment "wouldn't it be good if" but then in the cold light of day when I think about it again I don't think I'll bother going down this road. In fact, I'm just about to sell my Peavey C30.
In all honesty I think that I am actually quite happy with my POD for recording and I think I sometimes get too caught-up in the "real deal" thing, which really isn't a problem as the POD for home recording is good enough. I do still play out now and then, but I'll just rent an amp when I need to do that.
By the way Fingers, here's a youtube video of the AxeTrak

I second Marco's statement: Blackstar 5w sounds good...I played one at GC the other day. It was the mini-stack. It looks cool, too.

Dunno why the Randall ISO-Cab gets some negative talk, couse I've never owned or tried one first hand, but the samples online floating around sound friggin' G-R-E-A-T IMO, I'd nab one if I didn't already have a handy ISO Room.
Here's a Splawn amp through a Randall ISO cab...
