Just arrived from the states....Suhr Riot. What a pedal ! Clips soon.
heard LOTS of good things about that pedal. Didn't know you were getting one. Can't wait to hear what you think.

So far I'm not actually sure if I like it or not. Has a very "manufactured" sound to it for my ears. I will post clips later.
Those Suhr Riot pedals are always "supposed" to be killer, yet they're always mentioned in past tense because the guys posting about that killerness has often sold it. Odd.

I think I will probably sell it too ! I'll hold onto it for another couple of days to see if it grows on me but to me it almost feels like playing through a "toy", just doesn't sound or feel right if you know what I mean.
D, where are you seeing that? At TGP? Just curious. I haven't been there much lately but every time I hop in the pedal forum I see people saying how great this pedal is. Just curious if it's one of those that's impressive up front but doesn't wear well.
Jon, any update?
I will post some clips in a couple of days. Got a lot of programming on at the moment but should be done in a day or so and then I'll restring and put up some samples.

DTR can you please post the link for the pedal forum you are talking about? I want to check it for Wampler Pinnacle.
I had a Wampler Pinnacle a little while ago....sold that after a couple of weeks. That's another pedal that's great the first time you use it but the novelty wears off pretty quickly. The best pedal I've had so far is definitely the germanium4 !
The Wampler and Suhr are both popular high gain pedals. Many say the Pinnacle is one of THE vest for the early VH tone. I haven't tried that model. Most of his pedals that I've tried were very good.
After flipping pedals for years, here's kind of where I'm at with it... I think that IF you find the tone you want from a certain amp, no pedal will be as good as it is. The problem is, if you want a number of different types of tones, you either have to have a bunch of amps, or a bunch of pedals. I think lots of guys stay in the "great clean amp plus pedals" camp because they can get good tones of many types with pedals and a good clean amp. I have several amps with great gain tones and I only use pedals for solo boosting with them because no pedals sound as good as the amps gain. OR, I add too the amps gain with something like the OCD or such.
If I could just find a pedal with great Mesa tone (especially Petrucci's) I'd stop buying amps and be satisfied. Haven't heard that pedal yet though. :(

It sure is a fuzz, and really excellent one at that. Fantastic juicy sounds can be coaxed from this.
I disagree... it's not really a fuzz at all. It's the best overdrive I've ever owned... not really gainy, even full up on the gain (on the overdrive side) I tend to keep it always on--combined with a very "character" distortion. It's not a fuzz in the sense that a Big Muff Pi is one--it can get into fuzz territory but it's more dirty, spitty, wild. It's replaced two pedals on my Egnater rig and is now my only "gain" pedal on that rig.
Whatever it is I love it :-) Best on low gain settings, it has a really lovely thick juicy sound to it and a really spongey feel to play. Glad you posted your demo of it otherwise I might never have discovered it.

I don't visit the gear page. But not two weeks ago on the rig-talk board a thread popped up about this pedal and at least two different guys praised it and said they loved it when they "had" it, lol
I bought one a month or two ago for a buddy of mine, a studio engineer genius musician.
He played it for a day or two and now it sits in a cupboard in his studio, he never sells pedals, he keeps them all even if he doesn't use them.
So I guess it wasn't very good, he much prefers and uses all the time a 1988 Proco RAT I got him a few months ago.
He also uses a Keeley 4 knob compressor and a Keeley modded blues driver, but not the Suhr Riot.
I must say, after watching hundreds of distortion pedals being demoed and tested in music stores in the last 18 months, the one that always sounds best is the Blackstar HT-Dual.

It is fuzzy. Yes, in a musical way. But still.
Haven't played through one but I like the sound of Wampler Pinnacle very much.
