I ordered a new THD hotplate a few weeks ago directly from THD in USA as they only sell direct now.
It finally arrived today.......but they sent the wrong one :o I ordered a 16 ohm and they have sent an 8 ohm.
Fuckers, waiting for a reply to my email now to see what they are going to do about it. >:(
(I sold the hotplate that I had before when I sold the C30, hence need a new one)

I sent in a hotplate for repair LAST MAY... nothing. I've written it off at this point.
oh shit, that doesn't do much for the confidence levels.
I will give it another day and then perhaps I will have to visit thegearpage and see if that prompts any kind of response !
Faith restored. Just had an email from Andy Marshall apologizing profusely for the fuck up which he said is 100% his fault as he boxed it up !
Should get a replacement very soon !!!!
hope you do!
I've read all sorts of bad stuff. another thread: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1082648
maybe he's getting his crap together, finally.
If it fucks up again, send it back and get something from these guys: http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm .
I've had both a stereo Weber MASS and two Hotplates. They DO have slightly different affects on the sound - check out oscilloscope shots if you can find 'em.
We've got a Weber MASS, a THD hotplate, a Scholz Power Soak. We also have two homemade pedal attenuators that have two footswitches and do 6dB, 12 dB, or with both footswitches 18dB... those are the most useful. I think the Weber sounds the best, but I like the Scholz on my Sovtek, it really tames the brightness.
The Hotplates seem to be not favored so much now that others are coming out. Many people think the Weber, Dr. Z, and others sound better, especially some of the new higher end stuff. But even the affordable Weber and Dr. Z stuff has many fans.
Another benefit you can get with some of the Weber MASS'es is flexibility. I could run mine at different resistances (4, 8 and 16 Ohm), it had a stereo/mono effects loop and I could either use it as stereo or mono. Try THAT with Hot Plates! :)
The weber stuff looks to be cheaper too. Maybe I will get one of those too.
Also, should you want anything that's not "standard," Mr. Weber is very accomodating (and reasonably priced as well).
We've also got a Weber Impedance matcher, which is super cool... especially when you have as many amp heads and cabs as we do. Nice to be able to try everything with everything. (Not pictured--the Tweaker combo, Epiphone head, Supro combo + 2x12 cab, or the Peavey combo).

Hehe... I think Howie will soil himself after seeing that picture! :D
You haven't seen my music room. ;)
i ordered my hotplate from fat sound.. i got double pennied! :o
Still waiting for the correct 16ohm model >:(
Order a Weber MASS. For the extra money that the Hotplate costs we have not heard any improvement in tone... in fact, I think the Weber sounds better. THD doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere, either. The Weber MiniMASS (we love this one!) is literally 1/3 of the cost.

Welcome to my world....
at least you got it! I was worried that you wouldn't! Horror stories abound at TGP
Had some time this morning so connected up the JCA22H > THD Hotplate > Torpedo CAB.
Excellent combination that gives all the combination of tones that I will ever use.
The overdrive channel of the JCA22H is quite amazing. Tons of gain on tap, much more than I will ever need or probably use, but really nice to have all this versatility in one amp without plugging in any pedals at all. I can go from very clean to insanely dirty in one package.
I will restring tomorrow sometime and record some samples of it at various drive levels.
Love it.
Can't wait to hear it. I was going to buy one of these until i got the itch for a Mini Rec. still might...

These amps are so cheap and you get so much for your money....just the equivalent of a pedal or two for an all valve (sorry tube) amp !
That's awesome Jon. What about your RAH pedal :)

Yep, still got that. It's the first pedal that I have ever had that reacts like an amp. Must try that later in front of the JCA22H.
Sorry I lied.....no time to do sound samples some other stuff took preference again >:(
