As much as I wanted to love the BadCat, I didn't bond with it (making me really regret getting rid of the MKV). Well, I had the opportunity to pick up this little rig (it arrived last night): Mesa Triaxis pre-amp with a Mesa Stereo 2:90 power amp. The cool thing about the preamp section is that it will cover ground of all the Mark series amps and the Recto (when I want it). Playing around with it a little last night, I did discover one thing positive: it's take on the MKIII is a lot better than the circuit in the MKV. Not nearly as dull. That was the one setting on the MKV I was never wild about. Only negative was it was a little noisier. But I think this is one of two things: the on/off switch has three settings, on, on w/ ground lift, and off. I didn't realize this till I read the manual this morning, but I had it in lift mode. Manual says that if it is noisy in this mode, use the other mode. I'll try that this evening. Also, certain patches had the gain dimed. These were far noisier and didn't really need that much gain. They quieted down once I pulled back the gain.

Yes I am!!! I'm a slut for Boogies!!!

SLUT!
+1 !!!
:D
Seriously though, still can't believe you sold the MkV!
So what was it about the Bad Cat that you couldn't get on with?
The lead channel on this amp sometimes could be a little on the piercing side tonally (I think that is the Vox-ish nature of this amp). The interactive nature of the controls made it (for me) harder to dial out that sound (move one knob and it changes things much more dramatically than most amps). Though I loved the clean, I couldn't bond with the lead channel. Plus the lack of a loop got more and more on my nerves. I thought I could get used to that. I couldn't.
One thing I am finding is this Mesa Combination is going to do anything any of my other 2 Mesas did, but the one area it beats the Roadster and MKV is the in between drive settings. It does cleans and leads easily as well, but the in between settings work well.
great, I wondered why you did that deal. Anyways good luck with the new acquisition

Because, as Derek and Howie have stated, I'm a slut. ;D
Not that we're jealous or anything. ;)
I'm not only a slut, I trade gear with other sluts.
Ok, a former slut turned PIMP (or madame) then! :)
Gear Pimp...I like that!! ;D
You'll need to tweak the title under your username: "Moderator/Gear Pimp" ;)
Gear Pimp, remind me again... what speaker did the kitty have in it? Reason I asked is, have you ever noticed how many Vox lovers also love Alnico Blues or other alnico speakers? It's no wonder... bright amp, with smooth sweet top speaker. Seems they are made for each other.
My Port City 212 has two Scumbacks in it. One is an H55, the other is an H75. Very similar to the Heritage G12H Celestion.
oh ok, didn't know if you had other cabs.
