The Watering Hole

Picked this up a couple days ago...took me a few to take some pics and get the stock pups swapped properly (wiring was a little goofy, Ibanez 4-conductor colors not a direct match with DiMarzio's and it's been a while since I fooled with the guts of an Ibanez - my '95 came with DiMarzio's which are still there).

I've been waiting to check one of these out in the flesh since I first read about them several months ago. Looked like they were either never gonna show or I must've missed my chance since they're limited (10th anniversary of US distribution for the Prestige line or something...either way, only 120 of this for the US and I hear thats it, hell, they're not even in the 2010 Ibby catalog).

They finally got around (again) to making a guitar that I personally loved every aspect of! Seemed like in recent years there has always been a little one thing or another being a deal breaker for me...edge zero trems (no fucking thanks), pup config, wacky inlays, colors, etc. The 1420F has every thing just so (for my tastes), HAD to have one! ONE finally showed up at a local store and I was actually the first to check it out. Once I played it I never set it down until it was in my car, lol. Luckily it lived up to my expectations/hopes! Japan is still making some damn fine instruments! This compares really well with my very similar US '95 model. Ibhappy :D

I LOVE that guitar!  Sweeeeeeeet!!!
As Homer used to say in the Simpsons Quake II skins... "Mmm... Pointy!"  :D

Looks really nice Derek!  :)
I saw that one on the Ibanez site a few days ago and got G.A.S.  Didn't realize it was a limited.  HOT!!  Congrats bro!

Thanks all! I'm loving it. It's so lightweight yet toneful. Lightest guitar in my group by far. But, it's a better match for my favorite amp (I only have two, lol)...I think it's the basswood + maple cap + rosewood neck. Just jives better with the QR, even more than the similar specs of the Wolfgang. The rosewood board seems less "zingy" tonewise. Haven't tried it through the Laney.

Yep, Dearth...the fact that it's a very fine axe is one thing, but knowing there's only 120pcs of both colors, they're specifically for the US only, the last guitar from Ibanez to sport the superior Edge Pro tremelo (they're going with the Edge Zero stuff on everything because they don't have to pay a licensing fee for them but would on the Edge Pro's), etc, makes it feel 'lil extra worthy - it may seem like just another dime-a-dozen Nez but it's sorta not the case. Glad I nabbed one and I'm glad it's the Red Flame Burst, the Black one would look a little dated over time methinks.
Actually the one that really got me going was the black one.  I didn't realize it was a limited till I saw your post.  As far as aged, doesn't matter to me.  My 770DXRR says it all for me.  LOL

If I snagged a new Nez, I'd love to have the RG3550 in Roadster Orange Metallic.  We had one when the first came out and I had major gas.  One of the nicest I've played.  Too bad I didn't have cash at the time.   :(
I like the heck out of that guitar, good luck with it, it looks like a great instrument.
very cool man congrats...

tis a fine piece of wood to spank.

Thanks for checking it out dudes.
