I have a guy who is selling one of those (he wants to keep one and sell one - apparently they sound almost exactly the same and play equally well, so he doesn't care which one he sells).

He wants about $2200 for it. What do you think?
Good price, bad price?
Would you get one if you had the $$$?
I've never considered a PRS before since they're way too much for me, but right now I could do one for this price.
How's the McCarty model? Any infos about that? (I'm completely ignorant about PRS guitars).

Here are the pics:

$2200...at that price I'd ONLY consider the one with the Rosewood neck.  On The Gear Page here in the US, IRW neck McCartys run $1850.  Factor in overseas shipping, you'd hit the $2200 range used.  Regular neck non-10 tops go anywhere between $1150-1350.  $1400-1600 for 10-top.  I know the Rosewood neck McCartys are much more desirable.  $2200 for the non-rosewood model is a little high.

McCartys are supposed to be a pretty decent PRS model.  Very vintage-type feel for PRS ala Les Paul.  I know a lot of people who think very highly of this guitar.  I've never personally played one, but would consider it.

Go play it brother!!

Thanks Chris, I was hoping you'd chime in.

The 10 top looks incredible to me. If that one had a RW neck, I would have bought it immediately.
The other one is great in everything except I don't like that top at all.

So I guess... no purchase.
I'd go give the IRW a spin.  The solid rosewood neck would be worth it.  With an IRW neck, $2200 is pretty close once you factor shipping from US, etc.  I don't know what a used one is going for in Germany.

It also depends on what type of Rosewood.  I know there are some versions that have solid Brazilian Rosewood necks.  $2200 for Brazilian would be an absolute slam dunk.  $2200 for Indian Rosewood isn't too out of line.  You might want try it and make him an offer.
Personally, I would rather buy a Fender Strat, then spend the other 1.5K on beer than waste that amount of money on an over-priced, over-rated, over-hyped axe like a PRS.

Find a used Levinson Blade R4H on Ebay (about $600) and blow the rest of your budget on amps, beer and women!!!!

You'll have a guitar that will do anything ANY PRS will do (YES, Including a 513!) and have a whole lot more fun with the spare $1800 than you can throw a stick at!!!!!

Find one, try it and tall me I'm wrong ;)

$2200 = 11 Yamaha Pacificas.  Half that, if you replace the pickups.
For those prices you'd think they would have at least book-matched the tops!  :-?
