WTF? Just bought an LP! — The Watering Hole

Schneidas #1 · Nov 11, 2008 18:39 UTC

Damn!
So I just go browsing through a webstore, looking at Les Pauls. I see this gorgeous LP Studio in natural and GAS hits me big time. Next thing I know I'm calling the store asking about it, the dude tells me that it's already sold - so I return to my desk being happy for not having spent cash but keep browsing the online store and then see this trans red LP.
I blacked out and when I came to, I had already emailed the store about it, had gotten a great deal and my order was in - paid and everything.

I think the gold hardware will have to go. I'm thinking nickel hardware and black pickups...

Gorgeous flame top, but did I read that right? You're buying a GIBSON without trying it first? Brave soul! I've found that Gibson's can vary greatly in their quality and playability now (unfortunately).

Schneidas #3 · Nov 11, 2008 18:58 UTC

Yes I know that unfortunately.
The store gave me a 30-day return period, no questions asked so I'm not really worried.

I've bought a LP from these guys before - they say they pick their Pauls a for sound and playability from the importer (don't know if that's really true) but last time he really sent me a nice sounding one.
He said this one was great - we'll see but I trust him so far.

It's a LP Studio premium plus - those are discontinued now so I didn't have many options for getting a nice flamey top cheap.

Drop some nice Bare Knuckles or WCR Pups in it and it'll sound awesome.

I dropped a set of WCR pups (Godwood for the bridge and Darkburst for the neck) in my PRS Singlecut and they sound awesome.

Best of luck bro!!

Thanks guys!
The guitar turned out great! I'm keeping it, even the stock pickups sound pretty good. Might update them at a later time though.
Here are some pics I made at home:
