Do you think the Egnator amps have a clipping diode for the high gain stuff? They kinda sound like it. Or is it a pure tube signal path?
I have not seen a schematic, but no, I don't think there's any clipping diodes in it.  From what I've read, that's all tube clipping.
Thanks I e-mailed Egnater amps and I will get back to this thread when and if they answer.
OK Bruce and another guy got back to me and they said the Renegade has bias adjustment pots/points, and there is nothing in the tube signal path (Besides the SS rectifier) other than tubes. So that answers that question.
yeah, I could have answered about the bias pots.  I knew it had them. Honestly, I knew I had read that it was all tube OD too, but didn't remember who said it, so I didn't want to quote it as fact.

You need to go try one at GC.  Pretty cool little amp.
I am thinking Renegade 50 because it has channel switching and on board Verb so I don't need my pedal board with me. The less I have to carry and watch out for the better.
I'm also leaning towards on of those Renegnater 50 thangs :), its in the lead at the moment anyway, but thats with all things factored in, $$ included....then again, I was fortunate enough to file today at H&R and I find myself suddenly willing to s t r e t c h what I'm willing to drop, lol, even a little Marshall JVM205H for the right price is not out of the question...and again, April sure seems like light years away when the gas is already percolating.

And the funny/ironic thing is, you'd think (wish ;)) with the hard times upon us and many guys slowly (and sadly) being forced to unload some of their goodies, there'd be gold in the hills, but they sure aren't doing that in my area, friggin' shops are bare for used jems, nothing special surfacing anywhere. I've heard players say "you'd have to pry this piece from my cold, dead hands"....guess they MEAN IT, lol!

I am also thinking Bogner Alchemist as well. The shootout at GC when the Renegade arrives.
I don't blame you for holding out for the Renegade.  I'm SURE it will be a great amp.  My finances at this time would not allow for that.  Speaking of which, Mr. Kabala, my wife has asked me several times in the last 6 months if I had noticed prices on ebay going down due to the economy, and both times I said "no way."  She has clients that make their living off selling on ebay, and she says the ALL keep complaining about how much sales and prices are down.

Just in the last few weeks, I've finally see it really hit the gear stuff I watch.  I've seen at least 3 items sell in the last few days for at least 25% less than the lowest price I've ever seen them go for, and I'm talking POPULAR stuff that wouldn't lack bids or watchers.  You know, like the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe and Deja Vibe, or the Roland Micro Cube.  Etc.    I saw a Clyde Deluxe go in the last 3 days for less than I've ever seen a regular Clyde go for!

I've also seen some of the "hysteria pricing" at TGP mellow out a bit.  Emphasis on "some."  Couple pedals that had waiting lists and were selling $50 over retail two months ago, now sit for days at retail or less.

So yeah, as in my business, it's a buyers market right now.  I'd say the Rebels are way to hot right now to get a deal on one, but who knows what else you can snatch up.  A guy I just sold an Emi Private Jack too, from Craigs List, said he went there last weekend and found a mint Peavey Classic 50 4x10 for $300!
Well, I got killed on ebay (music gear), so that's one...  :(

I just this week sold my skis (with boots, poles, cases, car rack and chains), my target .22 pistol and a nice leather recliner on Craigs List.  Unfortunately, I also just had to have the roofers out yesterday ($400+) and the tree service out today (another $400+).  Holy fuck!  Mother Nature leave me alone will ya??!  :-? :-/

^^^ Sorry to hear that. Words mean squat when things are bleak, but FWIW, I hope things pick up.

Ugly and scary times when folks/families are resorting to fire sales all over the place - I watched a girl several houses down lose her job and eventually even custody of her kid (and ultimately her house) sell everything but the shirt off her back (in fact, I bought her presure washer), but whatever it takes I suppose. Maybe in the end they'll somehow come out in better shape, maybe.

I am thinking on it. I can wait I already have most of the bread set aside for The Renegade or the Alchemist. So far from the demo's on You Tube the Renegade is winning. It has more of the features I want. I don't care about the tube selection thing although it might come in handy. I just get the best tone to my liking, and set it there for most of the time and that is usually 6L6 Tones.  The important thing is BIAS adjustment capability, and that second master for boost. That is interesting. And an all tube signal path. And the digital Verb. Screw the spring type I need adjust ability on my verb settings, and all a spring verb adjustment gives you is amount.
