oh man, that avatar!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I didn't say it wasn't funny... heh heh
DreamTheaterRules — Jan 09, 2014So, even scientists flaunt their nose picking? I lead a sheltered life!
Especially if you've never seen
Reservoir Dogs. That would be a second reason to play the world's smallest violin for you...
But you gotta admit Buscemi's small violin, in loop and out of context, also looks like he's rolling a booger up into a ball.
DreamTheaterRules — Jan 08, 2014hahaahahahaha, you guys are funny. I mean SURELY you are joking and wouldn't reply that way in a serious manner to obvious sarcasm.
Expecting sarcasm to come through clearly in text without labeling it as such is pretty silly.
Especially when you're being sarcastic about something that seems like something you might actually say based on past expressed opinions on the topic.
I apologize for missing the point, but I hope you can understand why it was missed. :)

Be kinda funny for a religious person, believing in a God of some kind, to actually believe global warming to be a myth. ;D
I know better than to even comment on that other than in jest. I have edited the first post to more closely match the sensibilities of the forumites here, and will make any and all future posts in as clear a manner as my intelligence will allow.

or, he and I just ain't smart nuff to hang out here. We just simple guys who like to laugh and have fun.
Howie, Please change your avatar....that picture of the gay guy is just creepy ;D
I would personally like to THANK Al Gore for creating Global Warming an insuring it's proper implementation. Thanks to Al, it was 50 degrees in Ohio yesterday, and might hit 50 again today! That is over 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.
THANKS AL!

If Al Gore is responsible for the weather, what the hell is your deity doing?
Obviously giving Al tips on the sly, so he can write a book and win the Noble Romans Pizza Prize
or, if you really want to talk about religion and REALLY want to open a proverbial (no pun intended of course) can of worms, I could have answered....
"passing on judgement for the current state of society." Boy, we could talk about that one for a while, but we better not. ;)
Now, THAT was only a bit of sarcasm to reply to your bit of sarcasm. so to avoid more trouble, I must say...

Tsk, tsk... passing judgment on others, and presuming to know the mind of "god," in once concise, inferno-summoning post.

Why would we not talk about your quote?? Are you quoting the Bible?
ha, I learned that quoting the Bible here is like quoting Martin Luther King at a KKK convention!

Some conflict of interests there? ;)

I bet he'd never admit it!
I, however, don't have any problem stating that I am a racist. The Human Race all the way for me! E.T. can just go the fuck home! ;)
Who you callin' racist? You're the white boy who can't HEAR Jimi!

There was a question mark at the end of my sentence. And a smiley thing, suggesting I was joking around, just to make sure you don't take that literally. :)
White Men Can't Jump.... "you white guys can't HEAR Jimi"
Wesley Snipes said that to Woody Harrelson
You forgot the sarcasm warning. What can I say? ;D ;D
8 below 0 tonight, wind chill factor about 20 below. Love you Al!
DreamTheaterRules — Jan 22, 20148 below 0 tonight, wind chill factor about 20 below. Love you All
high of 78 degrees, low of 60... average January high 61, average low 41. Love you, SCIENCE.
Howie can't stand being average. ;) :D
You see the glow worm at the end of his post? Heh.... :-X
Left for our annual meeting in Columbus yesterday morning, around 8:30. Minus 8 when I left home. On the trip up there, by 9:30 the sun was up far enough to warm it to a toasty minus 4. The whole time, 20 MPH winds blowing. I'm not complaining of course, because A) it got all the way up to 7 degrees by 5:00 when the meeting was over, and B) according to you scientists, without Al Gore and global warming, it would have been about 20 below yesterday. So, thanks again Al.
The best view to take on any possible global scientific phenomenon is to look very short term at a very small geographic area. That's what they teach in schools in Ohio, right?
actually, not at all. What they taught us was to look at historical data to analyze whether things were "changing" as in, legitimately moving only in one direction, or whether things were "cycling" meaning there were periods of years where it went one direction, and then periods it went back the other. It takes longer to figure out which of those is correct, than it does to just right a book about the last few years. They told us that conservatives don't jump to conclusions just to sell books are get on TV. ;D ;D
And, they done teached us that, while this will go on record as one of the coldest winters ever in our part of the country, the libs will completely ignore how that would factor into the above mentioned equation, simply because they already know it's getting warmer because Uncle Al said so. I can just see the weather report now in California.... "Those silly mid-westerners are so completely in denial about global warming, that they are falsely reporting record low temperatures every few days, just to try to convince all the scientists in California that we are wrong."
hey, bring your surf board, and wear your sandals and OP swim trunks and come to Ohio. I dare ya. You'll freeze your rook sack off before you get off the plane :)
I am curious though about one thing. All fun banter aside, exactly what kind of time frame would you consider enough data to prove global warming? How many years of data would be good enough for you, to say that "yes, this is not s cycle, it's a change?" 5 years? 10? 15? 20? 100? what is sufficient to prove to you that the globe as a whole is getting warmer and warmer? I remember one time in college discussing this very thing and I remember the prof saying that there were definite cycles, but I can't remember the normal time frames he said they had lasted. I know it was quite a few years.
Just pretend I put a large reply here. I almost had it finished and the power went out just long enough to reboot my PC... *Sigh...* :(

If they taught you to look at historical "data" you would already believe in global warming, and that this is unlike any cycle we've seen in 650,000 years. This comes from NASA. Bunch of libs, right?

To be fair, you do have 3% of climate scientists on your side.

First of all, I thought we were talking about temperature. Secondly, you don't even know what "my side" is.
DreamTheaterRules — Jan 23, 2014First of all, I thought we were talking about temperature. Secondly, you don't even know what "my side" is.
We don't have a way to measure temperature 650,000 years ago. We do have a way to measure atmospheric CO2. If we assume that because our current temperatures have risen pretty ridiculously fast in the last 100 years, and that the "cycles" of CO2 in the past conformed to natural temperature cycles (which is not an assumption I'm making, but is an assumption actual climate scientists make), you can see we're outside the historical, measurable "cycles".
I think I do know what your side is, since you called Al's book a work of fiction...
I'm just amazed that Al's book is fiction and.......

You believe in God dude. You have no data to support that at all. We have more data to believe in global warming than you have to believe in God, how bought that? ;)

FTW!
It's a alarming frame of mind to say global warming is bullshit, apparently because he experienced 7 degree temps in Alaska, Ha, and of course the lack of data thing ..... pause..... and then say I believe in God. In one sitting. ;D
I have a feeling that "data" won't be all that important going forward in this little discussion.

Hypocrisy slam...
(if actual data mattered to anyone in the denial game)
