Funny how freedom of speech, if it comes from a white mans perspective, gets limited when discussing anything that has to do with anything or anyone black. Permission to speak freely is only granted to black people. Pity. I hope if I mention I don't like black cars because they are considered hotter than other sun reflecting colors, you don't think I'm racist because of that. How illogical would that be? Probably as logical as your accusation.


Just because I speek openly and share my thoughts on something that pertains to black folk, doesn't mean I'm racist. The word black does have to be inserted in the sentence for you to know who and what I was talking about. ;D ;D

The default position on words is that they don't hurt anything. People hurt themselves with their reaction to words. That was the point I made (and one that is backed up by science). It's obvious Wright's words hurt white men like you, but only because you have no concept of (or seeming care about) where the words came from or the headspace of the person who would speak them. Wright's words were not a call to a race war, they were not a call to violence. They were an angry condemnation of what he saw as the power structure in this country, and how this country's evil deeds (by our government - which we by and large refuse to admit actually happen) were coming back to haunt us.

That's funny. As we both know, God is a figment of their imagination, so Wright can will God to do stuff all he wants, but nothing's going to happen. Hoping is not the same as directing, just as words are not deeds until they are put into action.

And honestly, with all the debauchery that's a normal part of American life, from greed to weird sex to abuse and violence, don't you think the God of the weird fundy Christians would have already damned this country? ;)

I'm sorry, Hook, but I'm missing something here.  Did Wright say "god damn white America?"  And I just missed it?  Did he say "the white man is the devil" and I missed that too?  You seem to be caught up in whether a white man or black man says these things... well, many WHITE preachers did say, in effect, that god damned America and that was why we had 9/11.  You heard about their ridiculous shit for 2 weeks, and then it was gone.  No one ever said they were racist for saying it.  What makes Wright's saying any more racist than any of those white preachers?  Because if you call him racist because he's black, and says "god damn America," but you don't call the other white preachers who say the same thing racist... there is only one racist in that picture, and it's not any of the guys behind the pulpit. ;)
