Hookbender — Aug 09, 2011I don't think you can suggest someone be a leader. They are, or their not.
So yer born to make conservatives do yer bidding or yer not. I see why we need a pub in there quick then. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
So, he shouldn't capitulate to the right, or he should? To lead, I mean.
He should lead. Be in charge. Direct the congress and senate. Make his case in leadership mode. Not toss things out there and hope for the best like he's doing.
What case do you want him to make? How would it change conservative tactics within the bodies that write the bills? You understand the conservo trend has been to go completely against anything he's put forward... even if it was their shit in the first place. They walk away time and time again. They don't mind hurting Americans.
Like this I would hope:

What case? Well, you could do as your other post suggest. You could quit being President of magical dreams like hope and change. Define the problems, lay out a plan to fix the problems, and execute the plan. Stuff he should have done from the beginning. Lead!
It's not they, conservatives, thats the problem alone. Its them, dems and repubs, including our President, thats the problem.
It's much more than that. While I like Ratigan's rant, it is in the magical dreams of hope and change land as well. At least he acknowledges the problem is huge and corruption is rampant. He wants the Lone Ranger to ride in and the people will all be behind him and Congress will then do what's right for the masses instead of themselves. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA! Don't get me wrong, I'd dig it too... not holding my breathe though.
So BamBam kicks a plan, and then? It goes where? To the House to be written into a bill? They all get along and agree on a lot, I'm sure it would remain intact. Then to the Senate to be watered down again? That's what they've been doing.
What do you think of the nu crew of House pubz and the tea party? I like the tea party (non politicians) in that it's the first time I've seen old white people really get down on gov and see the corruption. Too bad they are funded by the corruptors who would put the middle class last and their pols are succeeding at reaching that goal.

I like one thing about the tea party. I like the fact that they continually bitch about government spending.
I think we need to clean house. Get rid of every fucker in office and start over. Including Obama. However, I don't want another republican in office right now. I hate to admit it, but I kinda wish the Hilda beast would have won the nomination. I think she would have been a strong bitch, I mean leader. And I think that's one piece of the puzzle we're missing right now. (Hilary)
I keep talking about leaders and stuff but I really think it is going to take a exceptionally strong personality with really good leadership skills to help get things turned around. I hate to use the word from the Reagan years, but a uniter. this person should also have the sense and ability to talk to the American people and not at them. We don't need reports and a speech about why things aren't getting done. We need someone to involve the American people and to be able to explain the problems and the plan to fix them. We need a damn plan first and foremost. Just my opinion.
We also need a President who understands business. How to make the business environment a little easier to deal with. Maybe thats done already, haven't checked into that, just sayin...
Koooool, who do ya see as being great candidates for all of these positions? Why would they be different than the people there now? Would any of the other powers/special interests change? Would the people who aren't voted in leave as well? What about mil peeps who keep the wars going and don't want to leave the countries you think we should leave?

It pains me to say it, but Hilary for President. As far as the other positions, I'd like to see people off the street with a college degree I've never heard of. No doubt they would do a better job. I can't predict any change except "some" progress perhaps.
"What about mil peeps who keep the wars going and don't want to leave the countries you think we should leave?"
Who cares about the republicans. ;D ;D
Billory, hungh? With a whole new cast? Calgon, take me awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I don't think she's the calgon type of woman. ;D
I think she'd rather go shoot pool at a bar. :D
Actually, I just realized I put up Bernee as a lib dum. He's an indy. HAHAHAHAHHAAHA!
Why do I keep thinking that every candidate is going to be promising the same thing? "And, if elected, I will make sure that every person gets a cup of Kool-Aid to drink!" ;)
I sorta think people need more pain to really want change and they'll get it... pain thad iz.
Been there, bounced off the bottom and am hoping to FINALLY get my first real spending money sometime next week (after "only" 27 months of working for nada and not once getting any Government assistance).

Not sure why you'd be bragging about no government assistance. You actually worked, at one time Ha!, and paid into unemployment etc. It's your money, why not use it during your hard times? It's not even really government assistance, technically.
Unemployment is actually an insurance policy that both an employee and an employer have to contribute to. Since I was an independent software consultant, I didn't contribute and obviously wasn't eligible to use it.
That said, my income (or complete lack of it) over that past few years qualified me for all sorts of Government handouts assistance including food stamps and welfare, but instead of just watching the boob-tube and collecting, I chose to work my ass off for what will be a MUCH better and rewarding result in the end. As I said before, I don't believe it's the Government's job to help everyone - that just puts all the pressure on those out working for a living (hey, it's NOT the Government's money though they tend to forget that). Sure, they want as many people relying on them as possible so that they can get bigger and keep their power. Sorry, but that's just not how things were meant to be.

Call it what you want, it's still partly your money. Nothing wrong using it when in bad times.
Well, if you didn't take advantage of the help thats available, that most paid into for years, is kinda dumb. Thats exactly what it's for. That's why we pay into it. Even if YOU didn't pay very much, it's there for exactly the reason you needed it for. Whether you worked during this time without income, is irrelevant.
It isn't the job of government to help "everyone", but it is nice to have the kinda system we have to help people in need. Those people aren't on the street asking for food and wondering which bridge their gonna sleep under that night. Would you rather have that? Would that make you happy, or give you something else to bitch about?
Boy....you got this shit figgerd out don't ya?
as a fellow "opter-outer", my hat's off to you, Craig.
cheers!
There a funny (not so funny really) twist to all this unemployment assistance etc in UK. We have a full welfare state that supposedly helps you when you need it.
In September of last year I was made redundant after working for a company for 20 years.
Firstly, bear in mind that in the last 20 years I have contributed approximately £130,000 (that's $220,000 ) in national insurance contributions that is supposed to pay for the welfare state.
I applied for "Job seekers allowance" which is supposed to help you pay your bills etc whilst looking for work.
It was refused ! They wouldn't pay me a Penny because my wife is self employed. Even though I gave them a full set of books of my wife's self employment showing that her earnings were extremely small amounting to pocket money (£50 a week ($84 a week)).
Then, they said that I should continue to sign-on at the unemployment office every week so they could monitor the situation.
At this point during the interview I said to the officer (actual words) "you can stick that up your ass" and I walked out.
I then worked my ass off for myself to build my own business and am finally making a good living from software development and providing document management systems and support services.
The funny thing is that I had always believed in the welfare state as the comfort factor of a financial blanket for when things go really bad....I have since changed my mind completely. It is incredible to think of the amount of money that I have paid into this system and yet when I needed help it gave me fuck all, nothing, not a penny.
So to all the jobless people in the UK who are getting benefit and enjoying the £130, 000 that I have paid into the system I say "get off your asses you lazy bastards because I should be funding my own family.....not yours as well !"
So, I am converted. Kill the welfare state and let us all keep our money !
hah, a convert! excellent.
congrats on your success, cheers to you too!
Thats great. Glad you were successful. Others may have tried as well and not been so fortunate.
Our system is far from perfect, but it is help to many who need it!!
In 16 years, I've been unemployed for two months. I gladly took the payments. I think they paid around 270 a week, it didn't start for two weeks, so I got a total of around $1600. I've paid right around $16000 into the system at this point. I don't feel bad about paying it, and I don't feel bad about taking it. Not sure why anyone would, it's barely enough to pay for coffee and gas anyway!
Holy shit. We agree on something. ;D
:)
