Some excellent playing there too !

Agreed.

Don't know much about the guy playing, Manfred, but he's the guy that phoned me from Germany on my cell to explain a few things when I first got the KPA, and also sent me the updated Profile files to load up...don't know about you, but I don't make too many 20 minute international calls on my cellphone, cost too much.  ;D
A very nice guy.
What do you think of this tone, Axe-FX11?

I think it's kind of lifeless, no sparkle, no chime, synthetic sounding...I think the Kemper's spoilt me.

There's a new beta tester in Germany, he owns an Axe-FX11 and the Kemper.
He profiled the Axe-FX11 using the Kemper, he says the results were identical, in fact he says the Kemper version of the Axe-FX11 has more dynamics and actually sounds better.  :)

He built himself a tube pre-amp based on a Soldano SLO100 with some mods.
He profiled the pre-amp he built into the Kemper and used one of the Kemper cabs.
Here's what it sounds like.

Very good indeed.
The only obvious solution that I can see is to get one of both...  ;)
Here's the Kemper profiling the Axe-FX11.

The guy doing it didn't even bother to do an extra "refining" during the process to get the tones identical, he didn't need to, take a listen, the Kemper becomes an Axe-FX11.  :)

No need to waste the money, let one guy profile all the best tones the Axe-FX11 has to offer, he emails you the Profile files and you're done.  :)

I'd have to wonder though about trying to dupe a duper....THIS would be a cool reason to OWN an Axe-Fx.....

$2300 to own that Cello sound?

I'd rather spend the money on this and have the sounds of a full orchestra. :)

Actually, maybe the Kemper can do that Cello sound, I don't know.

I said that would be a cool reason to "own" (have) one, not PURCHASE one!  ;D

Meaining I personally wouldn't have much use for one of these gizmos other than for these oddball (but kinda cool), non traditional type sounds. Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if there are already some vst type plugins that can do similar things.

Have you ever heard a Virus? Not exactly going to find cello sounds in there.

In that same vein, you could just buy a good amp for less than the cost of the Kemper, save some money, and have an actual amp that you can play with live musicians, right?

Well, you don't need an actual amp to play with live musicians.
Peter gigs with a Crunch Box/Blues Boy Deluxe into a H&K Redbox direct to the PA.
Or, take the Kemper to a gig, hook up to a midi pedalboard, plug into the PA, and away you go...the same tone you get by using an actual amp with a mike in front of it going to the PA.
After the gig take the Kemper home and you have a killer recording device with a ton of great amp tones and effects.

Every studio engineer/guitarist that's had the Kemper for a few hours has ordered one from me, they've been completely amazed by it...and they've been miking amps for decades.
The thing even copies the "holy grail" Axe-FX11 tones, the guy who did that Axe profile is busy right now profiling every amp sim in the entire Axe-FX11...that's $2300 right there. :)
He asks me if I want him to send me all the Axe Profiles, I said you're fucking right I want them...why not. :)

Don't get me wrong, I have guitarist friends who have ordered the Kemper from me who will still be gigging with their amps and pedalboards, the Kemper is for their studios.
In time they might start gigging the Kemper, who knows, but that's not their first priority...they love their tube amps.
If I had a Kemper, I'd still gig with my tube amp because I don't believe it could compete in that sense.

But I'd never and ever try to record with my tube amp again.  :)
Live musicians are an annoying lot to play with.  ;)  :D
Here's Robin Gallagher from Fender South Africa doing some incredible Chickin Pickin on my Kemper.
He ordered one on the spot, called it, "insane"...obviously he's been recording with tube amps for ages, but plans to use the Kemper exclusively on his new CD he's busy working on.
Sitting in front of him whilst he plays this Chickin Pickin stuff is mind boggling, respect from me that's for sure, it's tough stuff to learn how to do.

The guitar is amazing as well, a 61 Tele, 'Heavy Relic' Custom Shop Candy Green Sparkle....photo to follow, he's sending me one.

Maybe we should just rename this thread the Kemper sale thread...
Why?

It sounds just like a Tonelab, why would anyone want to buy it. ;)

I'm just passing on info and clips, fun to listen to and comment...people can make up there own minds.
Am I spamming, maybe, I guess so, but you have more lenient rules here on this forum, and you guys have known me for 11 years...it's not like I'm some stranger coming here and spamming...I'm a spamming friend.  ;D

Are you telling me I have the power to convince someone here to buy a Kemper... me, really...no ways?  ;D
Keep 'em coming Lance.  Even if someone doesn't want a Kemper, they might hear an amp profiled that they like and want to go check one of them out.  :)
+1 besides, what's the problem Charger? This forum is about music first, and this is the longest thread ever here, afaik.

It's only long because it's repetitive.  ;D

Yep, keep 'em coming "from me too" !  I'm enjoying listening to the various clips and sounds of the kemper.
it's like to watch advertising...for free..  ;D
with all due respect, this isn't a "hey I got a new guitar or amp" thread.  Like a Pod HD, AXE or other "technology" piece of gear, it can do LOTS of things. so just like if Marco or Jon or whomever got an HD500 and kept putting up all kinds of different tones, this is lots of examples of what the device can do.

I don't see it as repetitive in that light. It's the latest cutting edge technology.  If someone here had an AXE or even an POD hd and kept putting up samples of different tones it would do, I'd follow, read and listen to them all.

Why, every clip is different, different tones, different guitarist, different styles.

I think attitude is about the most repetitive thing I've experienced on the internet guitar forums.  ;D
All it takes to stop me is for one guy to say, Lance, for fucks sake, stop posting about the fucking Kemper you're getting on my nerves.  ;D
I'm just glad SOMEONE is talking about SOMETHING here!  We need all the activity we can get.  The more someone posts something, the less guys we'll have saying "I signed in and there was nothing to comment on so I left."

Perhaps I should also start another "who is the hottest Desperate Housewife" thread !   ;D
Fer chrissakes, I was just suggesting a name change, not saying he had to stop. If he was a representative of Fender amps, posting Fender clips one after another, I'd say the same thing.  Lance doesn't even play on his own clips!  Where's the soul, brother?  It's just one big sale to me, and I don't care, I just think the thread is misnamed.

Y'all are too sensitive.

As to no one commenting?  There are lots of threads here where people actually on this forum play music, and build stuff, and *no one* comments.

It's not for lack of content.
charger — Dec 08, 2011Lance doesn't even play on his own clips!  Where's the soul, brother?

you've got a point there !  (ducks and covers)
Charger, I hear you.  But I have a Pod HD500 and I DO NOT have hours on end to tweak the thing.  I'd be just as interested, actually more so, if someone was posting POD clips here to show it's capabilities even if it wasn't that guys playing.  Especially if patches were attached.

I won't swear to this...  but if I have the timeline correct, Lance didn't even have anything to do with kemper when this thread started.   And almost all of us being in the U.S.  I doubt he really would try to sell us one if we decided to purchase.

I know what you're saying.  Just thing we should all be encouraged to put up ANY good gear clips that we hear.  I'm going to look for some of the Orange Dark Terror (that's on my radar) as soon as I get a chance.  If I find good ones, I'll put them up.
I just want to hear Lance playing it. He's the friggin distributor!
I'd like that too.
lol

First off I haven't had the KPA with me, it's been on loan to various guys in different parts of SA.
I've just got it back from Cape Town.
And, I told you guys, my playing at the moment is horrendous.
And, I'm extremely lazy these days.
And, the little mixer I have connected to my soundcard shorts on and off every time I mistakenly  touch one of the cables , it's that old Behringer mixer from 10 years ago, and I still have that old Soundblaster Soundcard in the PC I'm using.

I need to buy some sort of new recording system, maybe a new soundcard.
Once that's done I'll try put together a few pentatonic solos.  ;D
Lance, I hear what you are saying but I doubt that your golden fingers have turned into rust.

I still play your "backing tracks with a three part count in" (as said in a South African accent).  And the recipients still brag on your abilities.

Cheers.
